Any information at all on languages and subtitles

Practical question that gets asked in every thread and answered in none.

No localisation list has been published. Previous games have shipped with full text localisation in a dozen or so languages and English audio only, with the exception of some regional dubs added later.

Given the amount of Spanish audible in the street ambience, subtitle handling for non English dialogue is going to matter more here than it did in V. Has anything been said?

Nothing published. Their pattern has been full text localisation across a dozen or so languages with English audio only, and dubs arriving later for some regions if at all.

The Spanish handling is the interesting part. RDR2 subtitled its non English dialogue selectively and it was a deliberate choice about whose perspective you were in.

That is a much better framing than I had. Selective subtitling is a narrative device rather than an accessibility setting, and in a city described around Little Cuba it would be doing real work.

Localisation lists usually appear on the store page well before launch, so this is one of the few things that will just quietly answer itself.

The store pages usually list supported languages before launch, so this is one of the few unknowns that will resolve itself without an announcement. Worth checking your own regional page closer to the date.

It also means an option to turn all subtitles on could technically break an authored effect, which is the sort of tension nobody thinks about until launch week.

in v you could not understand half of what was said in some missions and that was clearly on purpose
