RDR2 got criticised for long cutscenes and long rides with dialogue. Some people loved that, some found it slow.
The footage we have is almost entirely gameplay with narration over it, which tells us nothing about how the shipped game is paced. Has anyone seen a statement about this, or is the honest answer that a forty minute gameplay reel was chosen precisely to avoid the question?
The long ride with dialogue was the best thing in RDR2 and it was also the thing most people complained about. Both camps are going to arrive here with their positions pre loaded.
Late to this, but the car conversation in the footage is exactly that mechanic and it is already the best thing they showed. So they kept it.
Nothing stated. And yes, I think choosing forty minutes of uninterrupted gameplay to show is itself the answer to a question they did not want asked directly.
That answers my question better than any statement would have. They kept it and they led with it.
the rdr2 pacing argument is going to restart in november and it is going to be exactly as tedious as it was in 2018
A game about two people in a relationship that did not have long conversations in cars would be a strange thing to build.
