Can you switch mid mission or does it lock you

V locked switching during most missions and allowed it during a handful of set pieces where it was the point.

Here the in vehicle swap between driver and passenger clearly works during a chase, which is a mission context. Whether the full switch to the other protagonist elsewhere in the world works mid mission is a completely different question and nobody has shown it.

It matters because a mission you can leave by becoming someone else is a strange object.

Nothing shows a full switch inside a mission. The in vehicle swap is the only mid mission switching that has appeared and it is between two people in the same car.

V's rule was simple: locked during missions, free outside, with specific exceptions where switching was the mechanic. I would expect exactly that again.

coming to this from my own thread, if you could switch away while wanted the entire police system falls over, so it has to be locked in at least some situations

Which makes the in vehicle swap the interesting case, because it is a switch that works during a mission by being a different kind of switch.

If switching is locked in missions then the in vehicle swap is the only mid mission perspective change, which makes it much more important than it looked.

A mission you can walk away from by becoming someone else would also break every mission timer in the game, which is probably the real reason.
