The chapter structure comment is the most important thing they said and everyone skipped it

Buried in the editions explanation is the detail that Ultimate content unlocks as Jason and Lucia progress through chapters.

Chapters. Not missions, not acts, chapters. That is a structural word and Rockstar does not use structural words by accident. GTA V had a three act structure that nobody called chapters. RDR2 had six chapters and the whole pacing of that game came from them.

If this is chaptered like RDR2 then the story is going to be paced very differently from a GTA and I do not think people are ready for that.

rdr2 chapters is what made that game feel like it had a shape instead of a mission list. if they do that here it changes everything about how the story lands

Chapters is the right thing to have noticed. Rockstar's structural language has been consistent across their last three releases and they do not use it loosely.

It also implies gating. Chapters mean the map or the systems open up in stages rather than all at once, which is a departure from how GTA usually works.

V gated the map behind the prologue and nobody complained because it was two hours. It is about the length, not the principle.

Oh. I had not even got to the gating implication. That is a much bigger deal than the pacing point I was making.
