does anyone else think the marketing is deliberately hiding the premise

three years of material and we know who they are, where they are, and that they are together. we do not know what they want, what the job is, or what goes wrong

rdr2 marketing told you the gang was falling apart before you played a minute. gta v told you three guys were doing heists. this one has told us nothing about the actual shape of the story and i do not think that is because there is nothing to tell

Two delays also means the marketing had to survive eighteen months longer than planned, which argues for keeping it non specific.

You are right and I think the reason is structural. RDR2 could tell you the gang was falling apart because that is the premise, not the plot. Here the premise may be the plot, in which case they cannot say it.

Speaking as the resident spoiler avoider, a marketing campaign that tells me nothing about the story is the best possible outcome and I have not seen one in years.

Or the honest possibility: the story changed during development and the marketing was built around the parts that were fixed. That happens more than anyone admits.

thats fair and i dont think it excludes my read. the parts that were fixed being who they are and where they are is still a choice about what to lead with
