Putting this in the newcomer group because the eighty hour number is being thrown around without context and it will give people the wrong expectation.
For those who have been through several of these: what did the main story alone take you in V and in RDR2, honestly, without side content? I want a range from real people rather than an aggregate.
Thirty five for V. The range in this thread is thirty to sixty for a main story, which is a good honest bracket to give newcomers.
rdr2 took me a hundred and forty hours and i did not finish the story. i was fishing. this is not useful data for anyone

Thirty for V matches mine almost exactly. RDR2 took me over sixty and I skipped things.
Thirty to sixty depending entirely on whether you are the kind of person who stops to look at things. That is the real answer and it is not about the game at all.
V's main story was somewhere around thirty hours for me without chasing anything. RDR2 was closer to fifty five and I was not being thorough.
So the eighty figure, if it is comparable, is either a substantially longer story or the same length story plus meaningful optional content. Both are plausible and the quoted number does not distinguish between them.
