Genuine question after watching. The satire is broad and very funny, the fake ads are excellent, and then there are stretches where the tone goes somewhere much colder.
V was a comedy with a nasty streak. RDR2 was a tragedy with jokes in it. Which one is this, or is it doing something else? I could not tell and I have watched it three times.

V's problem was that it could not decide whether to care about its characters. If this one has decided, that is the biggest improvement available to them.
The colder stretches are what convinced me this is not going to be V with better lighting.
That is the cleanest formulation of it I have read. The satire is aimed outward at the world and the characters are being treated seriously, which is a reversal for this series.
The fake adverts are broad and the two leads are not. Those can coexist because the ads are the world talking and the characters are people living in it.
Funny world, sad people. I am going to be thinking about that phrasing until November.
