is the ending already decided or is that what the choices are for

genuine question not a rhetorical one. they have said decisions have consequences, that some accumulate, and that its built for repeat playthroughs

none of that necessarily means multiple endings. rdr2 had one ending and an epilogue and the honor system changed almost nothing about it. v had three endings and everyone picked the same one

so which is this. because built for repeat playthroughs could just mean the middle is different and the end is fixed, and honestly that might be better

Your distinction between the middle being different and the ending being fixed is the right one and I think it is the likely answer.

Built for repeat playthroughs describes a game where the route changes. Multiple endings would have been said outright, because multiple endings are a marketing feature and this has not been marketed.

V had three endings and the fact that everyone picked the same one is the best argument against them. A fixed ending you arrive at differently is a stronger structure.

For a story about a relationship, the interesting variable is what the relationship is like when it ends, not whether it ends.

One ending arrived at differently is also much friendlier to a second playthrough than three endings you pick from a menu at the last minute.

One ending, many routes, is also much easier to write well than three endings written to equal quality.

yeah thats where im landing too. one ending, and how you got there is what changed. which for a story about two people is the correct choice anyway
