The county names are doing more work than the region names

Vice-Dale County and Kelly County are the two that have appeared on signage.

Region names are chosen to sound evocative in marketing. County names are chosen to sound like they were assigned by a clerk in 1912 and never revisited. Vice-Dale is a hyphenated compound that only exists because two smaller places got merged and neither would give up its name, which is exactly how real county names happen.

That single hyphen implies a history nobody will ever explain, and it does more for making that state feel real than any amount of skyline.
