Rockstar has never released the full map before a launch and that is not an accident

Every game since IV, the complete map has arrived either in the manual, in a physical insert, or on day one. Never in marketing.

The reason is that the map is the product. Once you have seen the shape of it you have seen the scope, and scope is the thing that carries a launch. So when people ask whether the Extended Look will show us the map, the answer is almost certainly no, and it will not be an oversight.

Worth setting expectations on this now rather than being disappointed on the 27th.

Correct and worth saying loudly before the 27th. Every map leak thread this month is built on an expectation that was never realistic.

They will show vistas from inside regions, which tells you texture without telling you shape. That has been the pattern in every showing so far.

the shape of the map arriving on day one and everyone opening the menu at the same moment is genuinely one of the best parts of a launch
