Mine is that Jason is the quiet one and quiet characters get fewer scenes, and that the switching mechanic ends up meaning I play as him less.

Mission violence being handled separately is the design decision that makes it workable. That was the thing that broke honor in RDR2.

Fair, but usually they lose it to their own choices. This time there is a second person involved and that is new for them.

This is what I have been trying to say in Jason threads for a month and you have said it in two paragraphs. The switch is the point, not the feature.

Honestly did not expect that reply from you and I appreciate it

Hearing the police describe your partner over the radio while you are playing as the other one would be an incredible moment and nobody has said whether it happens.

The thing I keep thinking about is whether choices can change the relationship between Jason and Lucia. That would be the version of this system that actually matters.

This is the thing I have been failing to articulate in every Jason thread. You do not learn who he is from his bio, you learn it from how he talks when nothing is happening.

  • 6d agoHaven't playedOpen thread

It also tells you something about Jason specifically. He is the one who does not answer, and that is characterisation with no dialogue in it.

  • 6d agoHaven't playedOpen thread

The fake adverts are broad and the two leads are not. Those can coexist because the ads are the world talking and the characters are people living in it.

  • 6d agoHaven't playedOpen thread

The load bearing question is whether the supporting cast shows up early. Eight described characters exist and none of them were in the footage.

  • 6d agoHaven't playedOpen thread

Agreed and for a slightly different reason. Jason is the passive one, and a passive protagonist is much easier to inhabit in the first hour because he is also finding out.

A year of getting it wrong in public and then writing down what actually worked is genuinely more useful than getting it right first time.

  • 1w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

It mirrors Jason exactly. He grew up around grifters, which is also a family shaping a person offscreen. Both bios are about what someone else made them.

  • 2w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

That is a much better model and it changes how I read Jason. He is not working for someone, he is inside something.

  • 2w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

The obvious answer is that it is a set piece they are holding, which would explain why the general weather question also gets no answer.

  • 2w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

The fridge, the TV and the food all point the same way. The safehouse is where the body system is expressed rather than where you save.

  • 2w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

The seventy two hour thing is right and it means the technical consensus gets set by one video before most people have finished the first chapter.

  • 2w agoHaven't playedOpen thread

Twelve year old cars is also the correct texture for two people who cannot afford the life they want yet.

Mine: Jason has fewer lines than Lucia and is the better written of the two, and this becomes an argument in about January.
