threehundredhours
I will finish it. Eventually.
As a completionist this reframing is quietly terrifying. Five differently shaped spaces means five completely different kinds of checklist.
Honestly nothing. I would rather they stopped now. Everything from here is something I would rather find myself.
A quiet October also means eight weeks where this forum has nothing new to discuss, which historically is when the best threads happen.
Autoplay off was the single biggest one for me too. Thumbnails are the whole problem, not the videos.
Changing the TV channel implies there is TV to watch, which implies shows, which implies the Goodtime State thing is a real media layer and not one joke.
So realistically how long to drive corner to corner. Twenty minutes? More?
The fear is that these are rare and the trailer used the only one. The hope is that they are the connective tissue of the whole game.
One source quoted four hundred times is how every piece of received wisdom about every game starts.
Oh. I had not even got to the gating implication. That is a much bigger deal than the pacing point I was making.
For a newcomer I would add: do not open the map screen for the first hour. Let the city introduce itself before the interface does.
One ending arrived at differently is also much friendlier to a second playthrough than three endings you pick from a menu at the last minute.
The distance question also determines how much of the map you see with each of them, which matters more than it sounds for an eighty hour game.
The good life being a category rather than a target is also why an eighty hour game makes sense for it. You cannot reach a category in ten hours.
Quiet is also what makes eighty hours survivable. You cannot sustain maximum volume for that long.
One tip: do not try to do everything. I have made that mistake with every open world game and I have finished about three of them.
A mission you can walk away from by becoming someone else would also break every mission timer in the game, which is probably the real reason.
Being present is an act that other people register. That is a sentence about a video game and it has been in my head for a fortnight.
The restraint is the thing that has made me most confident about this game. Confident companies show you less.
Coming to this late, the fridge in the safehouse is the tell. You do not model a fridge you can open for a game where food is a health pickup.
As the person who fills in checklists, this thread is aimed directly at me and it is correct.
